Top 10 Restaurants for the Best Private Dining in Gold Coast for Any Celebration

Every time a family member reached a milestone, going out to eat and celebrate was a non-negotiable for my parents. It didn’t matter how big or small, we’d just dress up and find a nice restaurant.

But not just any restaurant, my parents like to keep it intimate and private to allow us to bond and talk over a nice spread of food.

It’s a tradition that stuck with me, and we still do it to this day. I even started taking my friends to private dining restaurants on the Gold Coast whenever we’re marking something special.

So, if you’re also looking for a place where you can celebrate in peace and privacy, you’ll find some of the best options here.

1. Edgewater Dining and Lounge Bar

Website

Address: Floor G, Capri on, Shop 3 G7 Via Roma, Surfers Paradise

Phone: +61755701624

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday, 11:30 AM–10 PM

The restaurant sits right on the water, giving your gathering a stunning waterfront view. The ambience and the view guarantee your photos will look good.

For food, they typically lean towards seafood. They frequently update the menu, so every time I come here, there’s usually a new dish or dessert added to the menu.

If I have to pick my all-time favorite, it would be the prawn and bug risotto. It’s so creamy and full of flavor. No wonder it’s a crowd favorite.

Their private dining room can fit up to 20 guests, and the event manager is very helpful in organizing the set menus and other specific requests for the event.

Pro tip:

When you book a reservation, ask if you could snag the balcony. Consider timing it during sunset for the best sun-kissed, waterfront view.

2. Glass Dining and Lounge Bar

Address: 74 Seaworld Drive & Marina Mirage Waterfront

Phone: +61755271009

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday, 12–10 PM

The restaurant offers a million-dollar view of Marina Mirage and the Broadwater, especially at sunset. This was such a big draw for me whenever I visit here.

Inside, the design is chic and elegant, with floor-to-ceiling windows that are perfect for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings.

Their private dining room can accommodate up to 12 guests. I love that it’s completely private from other diners, and you’ll have your own waiter serving the food and drinks.

The menu mainly offers seafood and steaks, with a few lighter and vegetarian options. The seafood linguine was my absolute favorite from the menu. The pasta was cooked al dente and was topped with various seafood.

Pro tip:

Don’t forget to pair your meal with wine, as they offer an extensive list from premium brands. If you don’t know which one to choose, the waiter can help with the perfect food and wine pairings.

3. Red’s Kitchen and Bar

Phone: +61755109988

Operating hours:

  • Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 AM–9 PM
  • Friday and Saturday, 11:30 AM–9:30 PM

Red’s dedicated private room can accommodate up to 20 guests. In here, you’ll get direct water views, your own balcony, and audio-visual equipment. I say it’s a pretty great venue if your event includes presentations.

And since you can customize the menu and seating, the restaurant provides an event manager to arrange the menu and other parts of the event.

For the menu, we mostly got steaks since Red is basically a steakhouse. They offer various premium cuts such as Angus eye filet and Wagyu Roast. But the star of the show that night was the 1KG shared T-bone steak, which was so tender and flavorful.

If you prefer something lighter, there are salads and vegetarian options as well.

Pro tip:

Before booking, check their website/social media first for special deals. They often run weekly specials, such as 50% discounts or a Sunday Roast.

4. Little Truffle Dining Room

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Thursday, 5:30–10:30 PM
  • Friday and Saturday, 12–3 PM, 5:30–10:30 PM

If you’re more into fine dining, Little Truffle is a great option. Many would describe the experience here as “world-class” for its Australian-European cuisine and elegant aesthetics.

Little Truffle offers two private dining rooms. There’s the Cellar Room, which is fully private and can accommodate up to 20 guests.

The second one is the Indigo Room, which is a part of the main dining area but can be closed off with curtains. This one can seat up to 16 people.

For the menu, they offer a la carte dishes that range from steaks to salads and vegetarian options. I also tried the 4-course set menu. Starting at $80, you get to choose multiple dishes from the a la carte menu.

Pro tip:

Time your visit during Friday and Saturday lunch services. They usually offer discounts on the course meal during this time.

  • Saturday, 11:30 AM–3 PM, 5–11 PM
  • Sunday, 11:30 AM–4 PM

If Asian cuisine is more of your thing, Madame V is highly regarded for its luxurious ambiance and flavorful dishes. For private dining, they offer two different rooms that can seat up to 18.

This place is a family favorite, and our go-to here is usually the banquet menus. For $59, you can choose 7 to 10 items from the Chef’s Signature Dishes, and it’s suitable for sharing among three people.

Personally, I love the spicy beef tenderloins the most. They’re very flavorful with just the right amount of kick.

The best way to finish the meal is with the famous baked pavlova with strawberry and matcha tea.

Pro tip:

If you’re hosting a larger gathering, you can actually combine the two private rooms to accommodate up to 50 guests.

Address: 6 Bayview St, Runaway Bay

Phone: +61755322954

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday, 12–8:30 PM

Cavills has been serving up premium steak and seafood since 1984. Frequent diners over the decades even described it as one of the best steakhouses on the coast, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more.

During our meal, their premium aged steak really stole the show. I had the eye fillet, and it was flavorful and cooked exactly how I wanted. Plus, the traditional coleslaw served on the side tasted fresh and good.

Their private dining area can be tailored for specific needs or according to the event. And I love that there’s a dedicated waiter for the private dining, which makes the experience more seamless.

Pro tip:

When you book, mention that the private dining is for a celebration or an event. They tend to go the extra mile with the service (complimentary food/drinks, attentive service, etc.) when they know there’s something to celebrate.

7. Balboa Italian Restaurant

Address: 1069 Gold Coast Hwy, Palm Beach

Phone: +61756592282

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Thursday, 5–9 PM
  • Friday, 12–2:30 PM, 4:30–9 PM
  • Saturday, 12–9 PM
  • Sunday, 12–8:30 PM

Balboa’s private dining facilities are perfect for small gatherings, as they can only accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. Food service is pretty flexible too, since you have the choice of a la carte or a banquet menu.

My family usually goes for the banquet menu since we can customize it, and it already includes about 10 different dishes. For $65 per person, I think it’s pretty great since the food is high-quality and the service is good as well.

If I were to pick my favorite, it’s probably their signature beef cheek gnocchi. The housemade gnocchi pairs so well with the rich and tender meat — it’s a must-try. For dessert, I’m all in for the rich and creamy tiramisu.

Pro tip:

Go for lunch if you prefer a quieter meal. The restaurant can get quite lively in the evening because of the bar.

8. Social Eating House + Bar

Website

Address: Shop 137/3 Oracle Boulevard, Broadbeach

Phone: +61755045210

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday, 12–9 PM

For regular dining at the restaurant, there are plenty of indoor, outdoor, and bar seating options.

The private dining room can accommodate up to eight people. It’s totally enclosed from the main dining area, so you can have a nice, intimate meal. For a larger group (10+), though not that private, you’ll get tailored banquet menus in the main dining area.

Most of the menu items are meant to be shared among groups, which makes the experience more interactive.

The 1kg slow-cooked lamb shoulder is a family favorite. It’s succulent, tender, and falling off the bone. I also love the crispy Brussels sprouts with bacon bits and nuts, a nice way to balance out the strong flavors of other dishes.

Pro tip:

The waiters are very reliable. Don’t hesitate to ask them for recommendations or help regarding how many plates to order for your group size.

9. Garden Kitchen & Bar

Operating hours:

  • Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 5–8:30 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday, 12–3 PM, 5–8:30 PM

I love that Garden Kitchen & Bar offers the conservatory area for private dining. The plants and the beautiful aesthetic from the glass roof make it a perfect venue for special occasions like birthdays and engagement parties.

For private dining, you do need to book ahead and coordinate with the staff, as it requires a set menu and a deposit.

My overall experience here was pleasant thanks to the exceptional service and high-quality food. The staff was attentive and very friendly.

For the food, the seafood platter really stole my heart. It was a generous spread of various seafood that I shared with my friends — the flavors were fresh and clean.

Pro tip:

Be aware of the surplus charges, especially if you book on public holidays. They often come out as a surprise on the bill, so communicate it clearly with the staff.

10. Cucina Vivo

Website

Address: The Star Gold Coast, Lobby Level, 1 Casino Drive, 1 Casino Dr, Broadbeach

Phone: +61755928100

Operating hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday, 5:30–9 PM
  • Saturday, 5:30–9:30 PM

Cucina Vivo is all about shared meals and a very sociable atmosphere. Inside, you’ll be greeted by long communal tables and an open kitchen that lets you see all the action.

The private dining room can accommodate up to 20 guests. It’s separate from the main dining floor, so it was perfect when we wanted a little moment for ourselves. The semi-private balcony can be used for larger parties, accommodating up to 40 people.

Booking is required for private dining. You also have to work on a set menu and pay a non-refundable deposit.

The menu consists of Italian classics: handmade pizzas, pastas, and hearty steaks. Call me basic, but the wood-fired pizza was my favorite. The base had a perfect crispy-and-soft texture, and the toppings were high-quality.

Pro tip:

When you come here, make sure to dress smart casual. The restaurant requires this dress code to fit the sophisticated vibe.
