The 5 Best Cake Shops on the Gold Coast for a Sweet Fix
For me, private dining deserves more than a forgettable slice on the side. Finding the best cake shop in Gold Coast means ending the night with something properly imaginative.
Maybe you’re hosting a polished celebration or planning drinks above the glitter strip. Either way, the dessert should earn its place at the table.
The right local baker can turn a simple brief into an edible centrepiece. I’ve rounded up the Gold Coast cake shops serving bold flavours, clever designs, and plenty of wow factor.
How much do items at a cake shop cost in Gold Coast?
A cake on the Gold Coast usually costs between $35 and $500+ AUD. The final price depends on the size, design, flavours, and level of customisation.
Standard celebration and sponge cakes cost around $35–$65 for a small size. Larger versions generally range from $100–$170.
Custom and drip cakes usually start at $85–$160+. Bigger or more detailed designs can cost significantly more.
Specialty and patisserie cakes range from about $65–$189+. Luxury custom centrepieces may reach $500 or more.
1. Bam Bam Bakehouse

Address: 2519 Gold Coast Hwy
Contact: [email protected]
Hours: Daily, 6 AM – 2.30 PM
Bam Bam Bakehouse is the sort of Mermaid Beach stop that makes brunch feel like an event. You can grab coffee, pastries, and a proper all-day feed before eyeing off the cake cabinet.
Their larger bakes are where things get fun, with options like the King Size Strawberry Tart and Almond Croissant Cake. They’re playful, photogenic, and built for birthdays or celebrations that deserve more than a supermarket sponge.
Ordering online keeps things simple, especially when you’re planning from the couch. They’re also open seven days, which is handy when the sweet tooth refuses to follow a weekday schedule.
The catch is that full-sized celebration options are fairly limited, and specialty cakes usually need advance notice.
They also close at 2.30 PM daily, so late pickups won’t work here.

Absolutely delicious
Really busy Saturday lunchtime but we were still able to get a table. Ordered 2 x eggs benny, mushrooms, nasi goreng with chicken satay skewers, and French toast time share. All amazing dishes – favourite was the nasi goreng (very authentic) and the mushrooms! We also got for takeaway the strawberry short crust, almond croissant and almond cake. All absolutely delicious!

Amazing cake
The most amazing customer service! I called for a last-minute cake and the team, especially Katie, went above and beyond to make it happen and even personally delivered it to my event.
The cake turned out so good, looked amazing and tasted even better. Thank you, Bam Bam Bakehouse team!

2. Stentons Cakes

Address: 67 River Cres, Broadbeach Waters
Contact: 0417 781 454
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4.30 PM | Saturday, 8 AM – 12.30 PM
Stentons Cakes brings plenty of old-school know-how to the decorating bench, backed by more than 40 years of experience.
Pastry Chef Brett also offers consultations, which are handy when your cake idea needs more detail than a quick online form.
The range leans heavily into crowd-pleasing drip cakes, mud cakes, and eight-inch celebration options. Flavours like Zesty Lemon Curd and Hokey Pokey add a bit more personality than the usual chocolate-or-vanilla routine.
You can order online and arrange Gold Coast delivery, while selected cakes feature Belgian chocolate. It’s a solid pick for birthdays, anniversaries, and celebrations where a supermarket sponge simply won’t cut it.
The main catch is that standard orders generally need two business days’ notice, so it’s not ideal for a same-day cake emergency. It also operates as a home-based business, and Sundays are closed for orders.

Delicious cake
My daughter’s 21st birthday cake was both beautiful and delicious. We wanted a tequila sunrise ombre style cake and we were so happy with the final result delivered by Fiona and Brett. And did I mention it was delicious!

To me a Cake is the Centre piece of any celebration, and I was looking for one at short notice, to mark my Milestone Birthday.
Brett and Fiona came through making a cake to my exact liking, matching Fresh Roses to my Dress as requested.
My Cake looked and tasted amazing, and it was very ME!… as remarked by my friends!

3. Made With Love Bakery

Address: 19 Alicia Street, Southport
Contact: (07) 5502 8730
Hours: Wednesday-Friday, 7 AM – 2 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 7 AM – 3 PM
Made With Love Bakery is a handy Southport pick when the guest list includes vegans or anyone skipping dairy and eggs. The range is fully vegan, so nobody has to settle for a sad token dessert.
Their cakes come in classic rounds and playful heart shapes, with edible flowers, custom toppers, and vintage piping available. It’s a lovely option when you want something that looks a bit more special than the usual party sponge.
Standard flavours lean towards vanilla and chocolate, though custom options may be available for an extra charge. Gluten-free cakes can also be requested, but anyone with a serious allergy should confirm cross-contact details directly.
The catch is that custom cakes and toppers may need up to three weeks’ notice. A 50% non-refundable deposit is also required.

Everything looked so good
It’s so amazing to see a vegan bakery to reduce animal cruelty in the world and this bakery has been executed flawlessly! It was so hard to choose what to order because everything looked so good. We needed up going with a fruit tart, ham and cheese croissant and rainbow cupcake. Everything was insanely good! Props to the creator and bakers of this lovely bakery. The girls who served us were so warm and friendly and they made the best iced matcha I’ve had on the Gold Coast 👏

Best vegan bakery
Best vegan bakery on the Goldy. Pies are great, and so are the pastries and honestly everything (biscoff cinnamon scroll is incredible). Staff are always lovely. Coffee itself is good but as a soy drinker please consider switching to boy soy or soy boy!

4. Horner’s of Sorrento Bakery Patisserie

Address: Sorrento Shopping Village, 20 Bundall Rd, Sorrento
Contact: (+61) 07 5538 4075
Hours: Monday-Friday, 5 AM – 5.30 PM | Saturday, 5 AM – 4.30 PM
Horner’s of Sorrento has the sort of old-school bakery charm that makes an early stop feel worthwhile. Much of the range is baked on site, so the breads, pastries, and cakes don’t feel like an afterthought.
It’s a handy pick for a quick morning treat or a celebration cake that keeps things classic. The bakery also opens from 5 AM Monday to Saturday, which is ideal when your sweet tooth clocks on early.
You’ll find plenty beyond cakes, including pastries, artisan breads, and catering options. Orders can also be arranged by phone, which suits anyone planning ahead for a birthday or office spread.
The main catch is that it’s closed on Sundays. Bundall Road can also get busy at peak times, so cake collection may need a little extra planning.

You made the most beautiful cake
Yesterday you made the most beautiful cake for my mum’s 80th birthday celebrations. Thank you 😊 . Everybody commented on its quality (not sickly) and I was wrapped in the price! Thank you sooooo much 🫶

The best black forest cake
The best black forest cake and pavlova roll. The freshest and lightest I’ve had. Even though I collected on Christmas Eve, there was no change of quality even though they had so many orders. Everything from here I would class as “to die for”. I’ll be getting all our family cakes from here from now on. Thankyou,

5. Aux Fines Bouches

Address: Unit 2, 43 Taree Street, Burleigh Heads
Contact: +61 7 5522 0323
Hours: Thursday-Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 8 AM – 2 PM
Aux Fines Bouches is the Burleigh Heads pick for anyone who thinks dessert should arrive with a little theatre. Chef Pâtissier Richard Le Deunff brings French training and Swiss hotel experience to cakes that look far too polished to rush.
The croquembouches are the obvious showpieces, especially for weddings, private dinners, and milestone celebrations.
You’ll also find refined options like Opera, Sophie, citrus, berry, pistachio, and yuzu creations!
I like that the menu doesn’t play it safe with one-note sweetness. The mix of chocolate, fruit, caramel, nuts, and crisp textures keeps things interesting from the first forkful.
The catch is that the shop only opens Thursday to Sunday and closes at 2 PM on weekends (so much for late-night sweet tooth cravings!).
Elaborate cakes may also need advance ordering, so this isn’t the place for a last-minute dessert dash.

Impressive cake
Rang up the store yesterday for a last minute birthday cake and thankfully they had a few available. Was asked on the spot if I wanted to have happy birthday written on it and personalised. The cake was for another pastry chef himself so the bar was set high 😆 he was absolutely impressed and everyone said it was one of the best birthday cakes we’ve ever had! Thank you so much for the high standard service, care and delicious desert!

The place to go
This place is the bomb, if you want that special cake. This is the place to go. My father was turning 80. I knew that the team at Aux Fines Boucher would sort it out two days beforehand. Perfection
